I know this may seem like an odd, kinda late post
But I have been thinking about Veronica Campbell Brown’s win in the 200m at the recent World Championship.
I was so happy to see her win and how she won. She was determined and driven, this was so clear when at the last leg of the race she turned on turbo and went for the gold.
Jamaica is really fortunate to have such a great example of girl power.
It is also wonderful that we have the great Usain Bolt as a shining example of how to win.
But….
Girls need to see women winning…. for that matter boys also need to see that women do win!
Veronica Campbell Brown’s win to me shows that if you work hard and keep at it you too can attain the goal that you set for yourself. So aim high and you could win gold!
This message can be used in good effect when homework is challenging and especially when sports day comes around and little ones like mine feel overwhelmed before even attempting the race.
Kerron Stewart is also great for this as she keeps on keeping on. I use her as an example to my daughter as I preach my favourite mantra of practice makes perfect.
And even though I dislike Beyonce’s songĀ Run the World (Girls) I do like the tag Girls rule the world. Jamaica’s female athletes are examples of this and help to empower our Jamaican girls.
I just enjoy seeing VCB win this race.

Nice post Gayle.
[...] Congratulations to our new again PrimeĀ Minister show us your girl power. [...]
