School starts today for some of us here in Jamaica and for the rest of us different days through out the week.
Our household starts back on Wednesday and if you know us you would know that we are not too pleased by this event.
But the new shoes have been bought! Have you noticed how much children have grown after just a mere two months.
New uniforms are out pressed and ready, books properly wrapped in crisp brown paper and it’s up to the big daughter to sharpen the pencils and we are sigh ready for the big day.
If you are like our household you may have been re-introducing some pre-holiday structure into your days and so have we. From previous vacations I have found it beneficial to do the following:
Sleep time is now earlier and consistent. started from last week.
Television, computer and video game times have been cut down. This was not well received we are such evil parents LOL. But they have to get back accustom to the no television during the week policy that we enforce.
Revision of subjects made as if play. Use of crosswords and puzzle play helps to refresh the brain and my daughter was amazed at how much she had forgotten. So out came the timetables for a refresher.
Back to school links that I think are great:
I love the idea of having a celebratory back to school dinner as seen here. Maybe after Christmas vacation we would try this out
The tips here do come in handy. Conversations with your child about what to expect on the first day should help to boost their confidence and ease the transition to back to school.
Whatever your technique for getting your kiddies happily back in the school groove do hope they have a great time seeing their friends and meeting their new teachers.
Happy Back to school week to you all
and remember try to leave early because the traffic may surprise you as others try to transition themselves to back to school.

All good advice! Our Isabella loves school and is looking forward to starting again on Thursday. Here, we have an extended year program for ASD children. It was from June 25 to July 25. It wasn’t full day but helped.
